EXCLUSIVE SETS: BADA performing commissioned music

Anna Von Hausswolff is no stranger to the Roadburn stage; in 2019, the Swedish composer had the whole of the 013 enthralled with her hour-plus performance of pure transcendental magic. She was due to return to Roadburn last year with BADA – a new musical venture that explores unbridled creativity through free improvisation. So we are thrilled to announce that BADA will now be performing a specially commissioned set online as part of Roadburn Redux.

BADA was created in 2019 by Von Hausswolff and fellow Gothenburg musicians David Sabel, Gianluca Grasselli, Filip Leyman and Hannes Nilsson – some of whom also perform as part of Von Hausswolff’s solo project. Through cinematic drone, tribal rhythms, heavy distortions and a shared desire to “reunite the essential bonds between music and physical worlds”, BADA is a captivating and constantly evolving force of creativity that demands to be witnessed in a live setting.

The band comment: “As much as it saddens us not to be able to perform live at Roadburn, we’re nonetheless happy to present a full set consisting of only new improvised songs as part of the Roadburn Redux commission, recorded over two days inside an old Swedish barn in Halland county. The gods only know whether or not this will end up on an album eventually, so turn off your light and consume this unique moment preciously.”

BADA will perform at Roadburn Redux, between April 16-18.
