Boy Harsher perform at Roadburn 2020 as part of James Kent’s curated event on Thursday, April 16

An eclectic, electronic project that is bound by an potent intimacy, Boy harsher have been hand-picked by James Kent as part of his curated event at Roadburn 2020.

The creative lovechild of Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller, Boy Harsher has always been closely connected to the duo’s own relationship and those around them. An honest account of their loves, losses and transcendental experiences provides the backdrop to layers of both electronics and emotions. A decidedly sultry take on dark synth, Boy Harsher flirts along a gothic line, never quite tipping all the way over the edge into the deep abyss.

Boy  Harsher’s minimal synths, beats and fuzzed up vocals have been in our eyeline for a while now – and we’re thrilled that our intentions line up with those of our curator, James. He comments:

“Boy Harsher brings a kind of visceral darkness through their minimal electronic beats that is extremely fascinating. The whispering-like vocals mixed with detuned-synths and old drum machines always felt to me like an invitation to a forbidden yet alluring world.”

For those as yet unfamiliar with Boy Harsher -start with their latest offering, Careful; a dreamy, electronic crush of icy cold emotion. By the time Roadburn rolls around, you’ll be ready to thaw out alongside us.
