As part of Roadburn Redux, we have joined forces with Germany’s Pelagic Records to showcase artists on the label’s roster under the banner ‘Pelagic Presents.’ With no indication of slowing down, this positively prolific label is churning out stellar release after stellar release, even during the last twelve challenging months. Join us as we team up to bring you an exciting collection of premiers, exclusive performances and more. Brace yourselves, we’re going deep…

Each year at Roadburn we select a band from Belgium or the Netherlands to be our Roadburn Introduces band for that edition – a band that we feel shows a special kind of promise and ambition that we want to highlight and showcase to fans, the music industry and press alike. Back in 2015, that band was Briqueville – a mysterious and bizarre ensemble hailing from Belgium.

Whether we can take credit for their signing to Pelagic shortly afterwards, we’re not sure, but we consider it a job well done that they found a home with the pioneering label. Now with a couple of releases under their belt – including 2020’s Quelle – capturing on record their eerie soundscapes and shamanic ritualism. Briqueville is truly coming into bloom.

As part of Pelagic Presents… we’re delighted to premiere the video for the track AKTE XII taken from the aforementioned Quelle. We asked the band what we could expect: “The inner struggle of our protagonist still stuck in isolation, is translated in an expressive dance macabre. Stripped of all but his own shadow he seeks catharsis in nothing else than his own motions.” In other words, expect things to get weird.

Briqueville are part of Pelagic Presents at Roadburn Redux, happening between April 16-18.
