Choke Chain is a project that spawned from the mind of Mark Trueman; it twists, turns and oscillates through existential dread, nihilistic thought and churning angst. Whilst Choke Chain’s music is fraught with tension and confrontation, it also pulsates with rhythmic magic. It’s also just the right thing to soundtrack your Friday night at Roadburn – which is lucky for you, because that’s exactly what we’ve lined up.

A little over a year ago, Choke Chain released Mortality – a half hour album that briefly eases you in gently and then hits you like a bucket of ice water to the face. Ominous textures and hauntingly visceral vocals meld together to create an atmosphere thick with menace as Mark presents a contemporary take on industrial and dark-electro music.

Of his appearance at Roadburn, Mark tells us that he’s “honored to be included in the lineup for Roadburn this year.” He continues, “The influence of heavy music on my own work is immense, and I’m very excited to be playing a festival that holds such reverence for all things heavy”

Choke Chain fits in perfectly with our ‘redefining heaviness’ credo – an artist that is pushing his own boundaries and exploring new sonic terrains with every release.
