performing Black Medium Current

For thirty years, Dødheimsgard have been forging their own path; from black metal, through electronic, prog, industrial and avant-garde sounds, arriving at where we find them today on their latest album, Black Medium Current. Arguably an amalgam of all that has gone before, with a twist of new experimentalism that marks them out as the pioneers that they continue to be.  With this in mind, we have invited them to present the album in full; prepare to be swept away by Black Medium Current as Dødheimsgard make their Roadburn debut.

Dødheimsgard mastermind Yusaf Parvez himself states that the album is designed to be an immersive experience – best enjoyed in one sitting – so we’re thrilled to be offering you the opportunity to experience just that, live, up close and personal. Every element of Black Medium Current is deliberate, considered and leads the listener further into the world of Dødheimsgard.

For the uninitiated, the very first track gives you a good idea of what to expect – and yet leaves so much more to be revealed. As album openers go, Et smelter is a triumph; it’s majestic, intricate and dynamic… and when the final two minutes kick in you may wonder briefly what planet you’re on. But whilst Yusaf and his band have a penchant for incorporating unexpected elements, they always work, and more importantly, they always sound like Dødheimsgard.

For this special Roadburn performance, the band line up will be expanded in order to present the album in its fullest form. This is a one-off opportunity to reach across the chasm and be as close to the source as is humanly possible.
