Chilean experimentalists Föllakzoid will team up with electronic artist and producer Atom TM for Roadburn 2020

Spearheading Chile’s vibrant psych scene, Föllakzoid will transport Roadburn 2020 on an all-encompassing voyage. Joined once again by German electronic artist and producer, Atom TM, the band will make their Roadburn debut on Friday, 17 April, aiming to, “modulate the gravitational waves in order to alter the temporality perception and get sucked into the timeless space continuum,” as guitarist/singer Domingæ Garcia-Huidobro aptly puts it.

In the tradition of psych, krautrock and genre-torching pioneers like Ash Ra Temple, Neu! and Kraftwerk, Föllakzoid are driven by an artistic urgency to (de)construct a hypnotic space metric structure. Their trance is fueled by a common repetitive theme, and this has made their hypnosis potent beyond their peers. Föllakzoid excel at creating quite minimalistic stretches over reaches of time as well as space.

Unlike past Föllakzoid records that were done in single takes with the full band, the group’s latest album, I, took three months to construct out of more than 60 separate stems – guitars, bass, drums, synthesizers, and vocals, all recorded in isolation. Producer Atom TM, who was not present for recording, was then asked to re-organize the four sequences without any length, structural restrictions or guidelines. Those sequences ultimately became the four long tracks that appear on the much lauded I.

As the two creative parties unite for a special undertaking at Roadburn 2020, Föllakzoid and Atom TM will no doubt incite a multidimensional reconsideration of I, bringing the ambient, dub-techno feel of the album to life as both a physical sensation and an aural head trip.
