Think of Orlando, Florida and likely theme parks and mouse ears won’t be far behind. Gillian Carter are on a path that will – if they have their way – put their hometown on the map for slightly less family-friendly, not such happy-go-lucky endeavours. Next April, far from home, they’ll be leaving their mark on Tilburg as they make their Roadburn debut.
Formed by vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Logan Rivera in 2005, he is joined by Bob Caruso (bass) and Tony Oriza (drums) to round out the abrasive Gillian Carter sound. Whilst that sound is firmly rooted in screamo, it also throws out curveballs so frequently that Gillian Carter themselves become the curveball. If it’s not a flourish of sweeping black metal, it’s a crushing flash of noise or a majestic interlude of post-rock, always delivered with a hardcore punk attitude.
Don’t snooze on this three-piece; Gillian Carter are set for big things. That mouse won’t know what’s hit him…
