Dance toward the darkness with Hangman's Chair

Over the past 15 years, Hangman’s Chair have refined their sound over and over to evolve into a unique amalgam of rock and doom – with a shimmering overlay of melodic pop sensibilities. They made their Roadburn debut back in 2016 and were due to return in 2020 as part of James Kent’s curated event – but at long last they’ll be back on a Roadburn stage this coming April.

Their 2018 album, Banlieue Triste, was on heavy rotation at Roadburn HQ for many months after its release, and now with new material on the horizon, Hangman’s Chair are once again deserving of your attention. The two new singles streaming now pick up where Banlieue Triste left off; melancholic doom uplifted by soaring melody perfected with gut-wrenching, heart-stopping passion and precision. The just-announced album will continue in the same vein, and we’re delighted to confirm that Hangman’s Chair will be performing A Loner in full at Roadburn 2022.

The band comment:

“Roadburn is a different kind of beast for sure, that’s why it’s always special to play such an imaginative and avant garde event.  We are so thrilled to be once again invited after the cancellation of the 2020 edition.

“For our second time in Tilburg, Walter asked us to perform an exclusive set, our up coming new album A LONER in full.  We’re really excited to do so, and embrace the challenge that fits in with the Roadburn spirit of creativity.

Don’t miss it because it may be the only time we’re gonna play some of these songs…”

If you’re the sort of person that would rather dance toward the darkness, Hangman’s Chair will provide the perfect soundtrack.
