Roadburn welcomes the return of Helms Alee

Emma Ruth Rundle originally chose Helms Alee to return to Roadburn in 2020 as part of her curated event, The Gilded Cage. We’re happy to announce that the Seattle trio will join us in 2022 instead, bringing their unique form of heavy rock to Roadburn.

Helms Alee have released two albums since they last appeared before a Roadburn audience, but it’s 2019’s Noctiluca that really pulled the vision together. Combining weird heaviness with dark melodies in a way that is alluring has always been their strength, but Noctiluca feels like the most actualised version of Helms Alee’s sound to date. As Emma Ruth Rundle herself told us when curating the band’s originally-scheduled 2020 appearance, the members of Helms Alee have a unique chemistry that amplifies the syncopated, progressive nature of their songs and we are eager to have them back on the Roadburn stage.

The band shares a similar sentiment, telling us that they’re “very psyched to get back to beautiful Tilburg and perform alongside so many great artists.” They also told us that they were “keeping this exciting trip on the horizon squarely in focus” – as too are we. Celebrate their return with us this coming April.
