Kanaan bringing fuzzblast revival to Roadburn 2022

Earthbound is the latest LP from trippy Oslo three-piece Kanaan. Released Nov. 12, it was recorded in May of 2020 and is a wild, hairpin turn from the jazz-informed heavy psych they’re known for.

Guitarist Ask Vatn Strøm, bassist/synthesist Eskild Myrvoll and drummer Ingvald André Vassbø haven’t left technique at the door, or psychedelia for that matter, as a song like the cosmic shredder No Star Left Unturned shows, but their fourth album is a full-on fuzzblast, unveiling riff after riff in cuts like Return to the Tundrasphere or Mudbound, where the chug becomes a clarion to the nodding converted — “don’t miss this groove before the next one hits,” it seems to say.

Ingvald Vassbø says: “I visited Roadburn in 2014 for the first time and was stunned by the great booking, music and atmosphere at the festival. Since that year I’ve dreamt of playing there with Kanaan since we started the band. In 2022 the wish will finally become reality. We promise the most hard hitting, fuzzed out, brutal psychedelic concert-experience imaginable.”

So be it! Get ready to hit the ground when Kanaan bring Earthbound to life at Roadburn 2022 on April 23.
