EXCLUSIVE SETS: Nadja presents Seemannsgarn

It’s been a minute since we welcomed Nadja to Roadburn but we’re honoured and thrilled to be in a position to do just that once more! Those of you who have enjoyed blissed out moments with Nadja at Roadburn before will be able to space out and indulge once again, this time from the comfort of your own home. For the newcomers: welcome to the wonderful world of Nadja.

This special performance was filmed at The Black Lodge in Berlin earlier this year and features new material that we’re delighted to present exclusively as part of Roadburn Redux. Whether you call it ambient doom, metalgaze or some other magical amalgam of genres, it won’t disappoint. Next month, the duo (multi-instrumentalist Aidan Baker and bassist Leah Buckareff) will release a brand new album, Luminous Rot, via Southern Lord, so really we’re being spoiled on the Nadja front this spring.

The pair told us: “Early in 2021, the Black Lodge and Salon Oblique invited us to participate in their series of filmed performances by Berlin artists. For this session, we chose to perform a new composition, Seemannsgarn, an extended, meditative piece we wrote about a liminal and tranquil green space/urban waterway in our quiet corner of Berlin, now in flux and with an uncertain future, threatened by gentrification and development.”

If absence really does make the heart grow fonder, then we’re spilling over with affection for Nadja and can’t wait to present Seemannsgarn brought to life this April.

Nadja will perform as part of Roadburn Redux between April 16-18.
