Penelope Trappes provides a soundtrack to deep thinking, to existential thought, to floating away – detached from our human form. Based in the UK, Penelope is an Australian artist who embraces both experimentalism and artistic expression in the truest sense of the words. She will be bringing her atmospheric soundscapes and evocative poetry to Roadburn this Spring; we can’t wait to host this incredible musician.
Here at Roadburn HQ, we’ve long been admirers of Penelope’s work; her songs are often included in our weekly playlists. And whilst they can often be a welcome, meditative escape or a soothing moment amidst a variety of other artists, her work is best enjoyed as a whole, a truly immersive experience where the music can envelope the listener without distraction.
Penelope says: ”For years I’ve been aware of Roadburn through their amazing curation of experimental and drone artists I admire, and I’m super thrilled to be playing there this year!”
Combining ominous drone, minimalist textures and beautiful melody, Penelope Trappes creates a luscious, intricate cavern of sound… and invites us to join her there.
