Pharmakon to bring a one-woman assault of the senses to Roadburn 2019

For over a decade, Margaret Chardiet has been cranking out a hybrid of power electronics and industrial music under the moniker Pharmakon. A self-styled, self taught musician following her own abrasive path to channel the very notion of what it means to be human? Sign us up.

To describe Pharmakon’s output as challenging is of course entirely subjective. But the multifaceted, intensely layered offering of her latest release, 2017’s Contact, provides little opportunity for merely floating on the surface. Whether you dive in or are dragged under, the noise will eventually consume you.

Live, Pharmakon promises to be an experience that will reverberate through your bones; less an out of body experience, and perhaps more of a full body experience. Mind and physical presence working to absorb the one-woman assault of the senses.

The soundtrack to nihilism or sounds of liberation; a panic-attack inducing hellscape or a fumble towards the pause button. The disconnecting ambience and caustic crescendos of industrial noise will shine a light on Chardiet’s thought processes, and magnify your response.

We can’t promise you’ll find the answers you’re looking for, but we’re pretty sure you’ll find something.
