Primitive Man will present commissioned music at Roadburn Redux

The last twelve months have tested the mettle of most of us – in a variety of ever more soul destroying and energy depleting ways. Something of a bright spot was the release of Primitive Man’s latest record, Immersion – although its luminescence comes courtesy of the white hot catharsis and barely contained feral misanthropy. Whilst it was far from easy-listening, each spin felt like a purge and welcomingly therapeutic.

We were due to have Primitive Man perform – not once, but twice – at Roadburn 2020. Back when we announced those shows we described them as “one of the most vital and invigorating heavy bands out there” – and we stand by that now; if anything that opinion has only been solidified by the intensity of Immersion. Whilst we may be a way off experiencing Primitive Man up close and personal, we have secured the next best thing for Roadburn Redux

We’re thrilled to announce that we commissioned Primitive Man to compose and record all-new, original material to make its debut during Roadburn this April. Having made their mark in such an unforgettable way with each release so far, we have no doubt that the material we have the honour of presenting this April will follow suit.

Primitive Man’s Ethan Lee McCarthy comments: “We have spent the last year writing these songs in spite of everything that has been going on. We have no other choice but to be tougher than the darkness that surrounds us. And these songs reflect not only times of extreme darkness but the need to persevere. Long live extreme music, long live friendship & long live Roadburn.”

Primitive Man will perform their commissioned material at Roadburn Redux between April 16-18.
