Roadburn 2020 will cheer the fall of mankind with Regarde Les Hommes Tomber providing the perfect apocalyptic soundtrack as part of James Kent curated event

A product of the burgeoning French underground scene that has produced so much incredible music in the past few years, over the course of two records so far, Regarde Les Hommes Tomber have used scraps from the most sinister subgenres, from black metal to doom and beyond – and feel free to insert a “post” prefix on any of them too for further modifier fun – to build up truly frightening epics.

Always apocalyptic in feeling, emotional and ruthless in equal measures, drenched in religious imagery and references, they’ve been indeed true to their name (which is actually taken from a Jacques Audiard film, though the band has stated there really is no direct connection) in creating a sonic depiction of the fall of mankind… and its subsequent rising to replace the cruelty of the established gods. Of course, all of this has James Kent‘s curation written all over it, and as such, we are very happy to receive the Nantes quintet at Roadburn 2020.

Veterans of the festival might recall the band’s amazing show at Roadburn 2014, but their growth and development over the past few years fully justifies a grand return. And this time, not only will we be expecting all of this maelstrom of fiery feelings, but also a healthy measure of the unexpected as well, since Regarde Les Hommes Tomber will be playing their new album, Ascension, in its entirety.

James Kent comments: “Blurring the lines between extreme metal genres, Regarde les Hommes Tomber have always managed to convey an extremely dark and intense atmosphere through their music and live shows.”

Regarde Les Hommes Tomber perform their new album, Ascension, in full at Roadburn 2020 on Saturday, 18 April as part of James Kent’s curated event.
