Russian Circles celebrate the communal power of music at Roadburn 2022

American post-metal institution Russian Circles need no introduction—much like their music needs no words— to the Roadburn audience. We are excited to announce their delayed return to the festival in 2022, finally sharing songs from their last album, Blood Year (Sargent House, 2019), plus the potential for music from a new album coming next year.

First appearing at the Midi Theatre for the 2010 edition of the festival, Russian Circles would go on to release another pair of albums (2011’s Empros and 2013’s Memorial) before coming back to Roadburn for a performance on the main stage. The five-year cycle was meant to continue in 2020, but the world had other plans.

Still, absence makes the heart grow fonder and Russian Circles’ return will be that much sweeter because they’ll have completed recording LP #8 with heavy music mastermind Kurt Ballou (Converge, GodCity Studio). Roadburn will always be a place to celebrate the artists pushing the boundaries of heavy music and Russian Circles have been doing just that for nearly two decades.

“It is always a pleasure to be a part of Roadburn—to be a part of that legacy and that community. And it’s even more exciting to finally fulfil the invitation we were extended back in 2020. After a long and tense two years, we are thrilled to return to Tilburg to take part in the communal power of music with like-minded souls.”
