SRSQ will perform as part of Emma Ruth Rundle’s The Gilded Cage at Roadburn 2020

The haunting, sorrow-tinged melody that envelopes SRSQ’s debut album, Unreality, gives a big clue of what to expect when Kennedy Ashlyn takes to the Roadburn stage next April. Invited as part of Emma Ruth Rundle’s The Gilded Cage curated event, SRSQ are set to bewitch us all.

Formed after her previous project, Them Are Us Too, ended due to the tragic death of Kennedy’s collaborator, Cash Askew, SRSQ (pronounced Seer-skew) retains much of the magic that made TAUT so compelling. The soaring synths and layers of swirling emotion are still present, as of course is her lullaby-esque dreamy vocals.

Unreality landed in 2018 – not with a bang, but with an understated elegance, and the songs contained within have seeped into our consciousness over the last 12 months or so. SRSQ recently collaborated with Roadburn alumni, Uniform and The Body, turning her hand to providing guest vocals to their track Patron Saint Of Regret – further demonstrating that she will fit right in with us here at Roadburn.

Of her choice, Emma comments: “I’ve been a big fan of Kennedy since falling in love with Them Are Us Too’s album, Remain. Kennedy has returned to the world as SRSQ with the beautiful album Unreality. It’s a voice and a sound that seems almost unearthly in its quality. I’m very excited to welcome SRSQ to Roadburn.”

Kennedy adds: “So excited and honoured to be included in this group of heavy hitters. Thanks for bringing me on board, Emma.”
