The Bug to bring the Fire to Roadburn with MCs Flowdan & Logan

Kevin Martin – aka The Bug – is at his best live – when he’s able to capture the energy of his audience and add it to his arsenal, creating something extraordinary to behold. Effervescent, electrifying — and loud. Roadburners who witnessed him as part of Zonal with Moor Mother in 2018, or with Dylan Carlson in 2017 already know the impact of his incendiary performance ability. So it is with huge anticipation that we prepare to welcome The Bug back to Roadburn.

His latest release, Fire, released via Ninja Tune earlier this year, delighted longtime fans and enlisted a slew of new recruits to The Bug way of life. Fizzing with explosive energy, Fire is punctuated with ferocious force and sounds every inch to be a necessary outlet for its creator as well as a document of a tumultuous time. Traversing grime, dub and dancehall and more, The Bug enlists an assortment of collaborators and MCs to further articulate the apocalyptic vibe of the album.

Martin comments:

“Roadburn for me is one of the finest festivals in Europe. Run by passionate music lovers, attended by fully committed music lovers, the antithesis of a commercial or hipster event. Always love bringing the dirt, and running the levels red there. I look forward to seeing who else is on the bill, because I know quality and a voyage of discovery is guaranteed. And I thank Walter in particular, for broadening the gamut and inviting someone like me to  raise some eyebrows and turn up the heat.”

We often talk about redefining heaviness – The Bug takes it apart and reassembles it in new and mind-bending ways every time he steps on to a stage. Joining him at Roadburn will be veteran grime MC Flowdan and up-and-comer Logan – both of whom collaborate with The Bug on Fire. To say that we’re anticipating this performance to be one for the history books is an understatement; don’t miss out.
