The HIRS Collective is a shapeshifting, hard-to-pin-down ensemble. Ostensibly a duo, they expand and contract as the mood or need dictates. The collective functions on collaboration, community, creativity and enthusiasm – all things that we are fully on board with here at Roadburn HQ, so we’re beyond thrilled to be welcoming The HIRS Collective to Roadburn in 2025.
Whether they are explicitly credited or not, each person who contributes to The HIRS Collective output is by default a part of the Collective, spreading the good word and heightening sensations wherever they may roam. Founded by vocalist Jenna Pup and guitarist Esem, the tendrils of The Collective reach far and wide and can frequently be found looping around some faces that would be familiar to your average Roadburner. Among their collaborators are the likes of Thou, Full of Hell, Sunrot, The Body, Moor Mother… the list goes on and on.
Reaching beyond being merely “socially conscious”, The Hirs Collective hold a mirror up to the slights, abrasions, and injustices inflicted on themselves, their communities and those around them. Underpinning their vitriolic, culturally-referenced commentary is a chaotic buzz of punk rock fury – delightful in all its forms.
Of their upcoming Roadburn performance, they told us: “The Collective are honored and excited to announce we were invited to be a part of Roadburn next year. We can’t wait to play so many places in Europe/UK for the first time since we began this project almost 15 years ago. See all y’all freaks in April 2025…”
The HIRS Collective can and will consume you – we think you might just like it.
