Iceland’s wrecking crew Une Misère to conquer Roadburn 2018

If you’re a regular Roadburn visitor, you’ll already know that Iceland is quite the hotbed of burgeoning underground music, and we’re not shy of booking the brightest – or bleakest – of those to play the festival. Inspired by Iceland’s own darkest aspects, Une Misère are currently making considerable waves.

The atmospheric, post-hardcore crew won the Wacken Metal Battle back home, leading to a performance at the legendary festival this year. They also took Iceland’s own Eistnaflug festival by storm this summer. Although they performed multiple times over the course of the weekend, it was the impromptu, late night show at an abandoned pizza place that was the stand out. Whilst their main festival performance – against a backdrop of intense, artistic visuals – firmly puts them on a par with their international counterparts, it was the punk attitude and rebellious nature on display in the pizza parlour that truly put them on the map.

Taking their cues from Amenra, Trap Them and Full of Hell, Une Misère are an explosive combination of elongated atmospherics and insanely meaty riffs the size of buzz bombs. They have fast become an integral part of the aforementioned blossoming underground metal scene in Iceland alongside Misþyrming and Auðn among others.

Witnessing a hardworking collective ready to conquer the international underground, we were blown away – hence the invitation to play Roadburn 2018 on Friday, April 20; a continuation of our ongoing presentation of a thriving Icelandic scene. We’re not prone to hyperbole, but we strongly advice you mark these guys down as a “must see” on your Roadburn schedule. Une Misère will rank among the bands of Roadburn 2018.

Date: April 19 | 20

Time: 00.00 | 21.40
