Uniform to perform Shame in full at Roadburn 2022

In less than a decade, NYC outfit Uniform have become one of the modern faces of the industrial movement. The trio’s work ethic is tireless: since 2015, Uniform have released four full-lengths, and two studio collaborations (plus one live album) with sludge deviants The Body, all while maintaining a prolific touring schedule.

Shame, the band’s 2020 full-length, is a brooding examination of exactly what the title suggests. At times, like on “Life in Remission,” Uniform are jagged and in your face, haphazardly unleashing a storm of noisy electronics and distorted guitars. Other songs, like the title track, are driven by steady percussion and spacey chords that give vocalist Michael Berdan ample room to half-chant/half-sing his self-flagellating lyrics.

Uniform last performed at Roadburn in 2018 but the band will appear in a different form when they perform at Roadburn 2022. Drummer Mike Sharp joined Uniform in 2019, making the band a trio for the first time ever on Shame. The addition of Sharp adds a new dynamic layer to Uniform’s sound, allowing the band to further develop their explosive delivery.

Of their appearance at Roadburn, the band commented: “It’s been a long time coming and we couldn’t be more thrilled to return to Roadburn in 2022. No other event on earth is curated with such love, attention to detail, and respect for audience and artist alike. It is truly an honor to be involved and we are eternally grateful to Walter, Becky, and everyone else involved in making Roadburn happen.”
