As well as participating in a performance as part of Midwife’s residency at Roadburn 2025, we’re delighted to have snagged a solo performance Vyva Melinkolya. Vyva Melinkolya is the creative vehicle for transgender multi-instrumentalist Angel Diaz, a songwriter and performer who is slowly carving out her own distinctive niche within emotionally heavy, dreamgaze music.

Her 2023 release, Unbecoming, is a sweetly melancholic anthology of compositions steeped in resilience and hope as it navigates relationships after abuse, death and violence. Diaz’s dreamy vocals are a balm, her celestial songs an evocative expression of self. If your interest is piqued, Angel has been releasing music under the Vyva Melinkolya moniker since 2018 so there’s some back catalogue available for you to dip into should the desire take you. And we highly encourage you to do just that.

Of her upcoming Roadburn appearance, Angel commented:

“Roadburn has been “my dream festival” for the better part of a decade, ever since I heard the 2012 Chelsea Wolfe “Live at Roadburn” album.”

Consider this a rare treat – a chance to see a blossoming artist perform for the first time in Europe, as well as witnessing her combine talents with another formidable force within the realm of gently devastating music. These chances don’t come along often…
