Jo Quail is – arguably – one of the artists that most embodies the Roadburn ethos. Her explorations in heavy music are captivating, ambitious and boundary shattering. Since we first stumbled upon her work, we’ve been huge fans of everything she does, so it’s a great honour to be premiering a live performance video from her, of the track Adder Stone.

The track is taken from her 2014 album Caldera, but despite having lived with it for the best part of six years, it sounds as fresh now as it did the first time round. Performed live at Chauvert Professional, Jo‘s performance of Adder Stone is an enthralling watch. Of the song, Jo tells us:

“Inspired by the wild seas and the craggy cliffs on the South East coast, this is a celebration of the power of the water in all her unpredictable glory. Rhythmic repetitions and wild solos crash over one another and coalesce to describe the magic that permeates this sea.”

In a year when we were due to be celebrating the originality and uniqueness of Jo’s talents in a brand new way, this video offers us solace and an striking reminder of what we’re missing out on. Until such a time as we are able to witness this passion and creativity in a live setting again, we suggest you kick back, and let this one wash over you.
