De Pont
De Pont Museum is een internationaal museum voor hedendaagse kunst, gevestigd in een voormalige wolspinnerij in Tilburg. In de monumentale industriële ruimte krijgen wisselende solotentoonstellingen en collectie presentaties alle ruimte, met aandacht voor kunstenaars die beeld, idee en ervaring op scherp zetten. De Pont is daarmee niet alleen een plek om kunst te bekijken, maar ook om langer in een artistieke wereld te verblijven. Momenteel presenteert het museum de eerste Nederlandse solotentoonstelling van de Britse kunstenaar en filmmaker Steve McQueen: ATLAS. Centraal staat de wereldpremière van Atlas (2026), een installatie die speciaal voor De Pont werd ontwikkeld. Met behulp van zelflerende software zette McQueen gegevens om in bewegend beeld dat de bezoeker meeneemt op een reis door de kosmos. Samen met Sunshine State (2022), een recente aanwinst van het museum, het geluidswerk Untitled (2025) en de fotoserie Bounty (2024) ontstaat een gelaagd geheel waarin McQueen naar voren komt als zowel een scherp beeldmaker als een onderzoekende denker. Op donderdag 16 april is Steve McQueen bovendien zelf aanwezig in het museum voor een gesprek met directeur Martijn van Nieuwenhuyzen over de tentoonstelling. De talk start om 19:00 uur. Het museum is die avond van 17:00 tot 21:00 uur gratis toegankelijk. Aanmelden is verplicht in verband met het beperkte aantal beschikbare plaatsen.

De Pont Museum is an international museum for contemporary art, housed in a former wool mill in Tilburg. Within its monumental industrial setting, rotating solo exhibitions and collection presentations are given space to unfold, with a focus on artists who sharpen the relationship between image, idea and experience. De Pont is not only a place to view art, but a place to spend time inside an artistic world.
The museum is currently presenting the first Dutch solo exhibition by British artist and filmmaker Steve McQueen: ATLAS. At its centre is the world premiere of Atlas (2026), an installation developed especially for De Pont. Using self-learning software, McQueen transformed data into moving images that take visitors on a journey through the cosmos. Together with Sunshine State (2022), a recent acquisition by the museum, the sound work Untitled (2025) and the photo series Bounty (2024), the exhibition forms a layered whole in which McQueen emerges as both a powerful image-maker and a deeply probing thinker.
On Thursday, April 16, Steve McQueen will also be present at the museum for a conversation with director Martijn van Nieuwenhuyzen about the exhibition. The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The museum will be free to visit from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM that evening. Registration is required due to limited capacity.
