Stadscamping Tilburg

Tijdens Roadburn kun je bij Stadscamping Tilburg terecht voor een goedgevuld programma! Op het programma staan onder meer Tilburg’s eigen Docile Bodies en ENMA, het dark wave muziekproject Vonder, de cinematografische post-rock band Dead Duck, het ambient instrumentale post-rock project Thistle Sifter en high energy trio The Ax Effect.

ENMA – vrijdag 19 april – 12:00

Afkomstig uit de spelonken van de hoofdstad van heavy muziek, Tilburg, staat de nieuwe band ENMA garant voor een breed spectrum aan heaviness. Van progressieve metal riffs a la Opeth en Tool tot de gruizige grooves uit de Seattle grunge tijd, van introspectieve melancholia tot stevige uitbarstingen.

Docile Bodies – vrijdag 19 april – 13:15

De Tilburgse formatie Docile Bodies speelt zwaarmoedige, Scandinavisch-klinkende postpunk gekenmerkt door gelaagde sounds en gepredikte vocalen. Begin 2022 is debuut-EP ‘Arc’ verschenen via à La Carte Records, waarop het viertal hun sound uitbreidt met glinsterende synths en atmosferische soundscapes. Trots om deze lokale post-punk trots op de Roadburn campsite te mogen ontvangen!

Vonder – zaterdag 20 april – 12:00

Vonder is een dark wave project gevormd door Ellenor Vora en Noire Antidote (Benjamin Sch), die gezamenlijk de duistere randen op zoeken als het gaat om het creëren van een melancholische sfeer. Het duo introduceert hun geluid met debuut “Forlorn.” Pijnlijk neerslachtige en vurige teksten worden gebracht door een stem die tot in je ziel doordringt. Aangevuld met galmende gitaren en industriele sounds waar ze al de nodige bekendheid mee vergaarden in hun eigen projecten.

Dead Duck – zaterdag 20 april – 13:15

Dead Duck is een onverwachte combinatie van vaders en zonen die ook nog eens neven en ooms van elkaar zijn. Familiair amper uit te leggen, maar gelukkig draait het om de muziek. Dead Duck klinkt als een scène uit een film noir, met nog een klein sprankje hoop te midden van de duisternis. Een liefdesbaby tussen Mogwai, Motorpsycho, Amenra en Charles Bukowski zou je kunnen zeggen. Laten we het simpelweg omschrijven als filmische postrock die veelal ontspoort in een explosie van melodieuze gitaren en ontketende zang. Begin mei presenteert de band de nieuwe EP Every Night in MEZZ Breda. Een soort preparty op de Roadburn campsite dus! Ben erbij!

Thistle Sifter – zondag 21 april – 12:00

Thistle Sifter is het ambient instrumentale post-rockproject van de Engelse muzikant Pete Barnes (Utrecht, NL). Het nieuwe album Circles is het vervolg op debuut A Spectral Moon uit 2022, gebaseerd op een ernstig fietsongeluk dat Barnes in november 2020 letterlijk in verwarring bracht. Geschreven tijdens een lange herstelperiode en ver van familie en vrienden in Engeland, is Circles geïnspireerd door persoonlijke worstelingen met gezondheid, acceptatie en het loslaten van het verleden. Het resultaat is een krachtige ambient instrumentaal album geïnspireerd door Brexit, Covid en het moeilijke, voortdurende pad naar het herstel van Barnes.

The Ax Effect – zondag 21 april – 13:15

The Ax Effect is drie decennia aan punk, hardrock en metal met een houthakkers thema. Met een staande drummende en zingende frontman. Schijt aan conventies, hoge energie. In your face, met de drums prominent vooraan!

During Roadburn Stadscamping Tilburg is not only our campsite. They will host an OFFROAD stage with Tilburg’s own Docile Bodies and ENMA, dark wave music project Vonder, the cinematic post-rock band Dead Duck, the ambient instrumental post-rock project Thistle Sifter and high energy trio The Ax Effect.

ENMA – Friday 19 april – 12:00

Hailing from Tilburg, the unofficial Dutch capital of heavy music, ENMA offers a wide array of heaviness: from progressive metal riffs to plowing 90s grunge grooves, from introspective melancholia to fierce outbursts. For fans of Tool, Opeth, Alice in Chains and Katatonia.

Docile Bodies – Friday 19 april – 13:15 

Tilburg formation Docile Bodies plays melancholic, Scandinavian-sounding post-punk characterized by layered sounds and mesmerizing vocals. In early 2022, their debut EP ‘Arc’ was released through à La Carte Records, on which the quartet expands their sound with shimmering synths and atmospheric soundscapes. Proud to welcome this local post-punk pride to the Roadburn campsite! 

Vonder – Saturday 20 april – 12:00  

Vonder is a dark wave music project formed by Ellenor Vora and Noire Antidote (Benjamin Sch), who both have the dark edges in their fingers when it comes to bringing a melancholic setting. The duo introduces their sound with their debut “Forlorn.” Painfully dejected & fervid lyrics delivered in a voice that penetrates the deepest core of your soul. Supplemented with echoing guitars and industrial elements that they were already very comfortable with in their own projects. 

Dead Duck – Saturday 20 april – 13:15  

Dead Duck is an unexpected blend of fathers and sons, who also happen to be cousins and uncles to each other. It’s almost impossible to explain how these family ties run, but thankfully, it’s all about the music. Dead Duck resonates like a scene from a film noir, with a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness. You could say it’s a lovechild between Mogwai, Motorpsycho, Amenra, and Charles Bukowski. Let’s simply describe it as cinematic post-rock often veering into an explosion of melodic guitars and unleashed vocals. In early May, the band presents their new EP, Every Night, at MEZZ Breda. So this will be a sort of pre-party on the Roadburn campsite! See you there!  

Thistle Sifter – Sunday 21 april – 12:00 

Thistle Sifter is the ambient instrumental post-rock project by English musician Pete Barnes (Utrecht, NL). New album Circles is the follow-up to 2022’s debut A Spectral Moon, based on a serious cycling accident that literally catapulted Barnes into disarray in November 2020. Written during an extended recovery period and far from family and friends in England, Circles is inspired by personal struggles with health, acceptance and letting go of the past. The result is a powerful ambient instrumental record inspired by Brexit, Covid and the difficult, ongoing path to Barnes’ recovery. 

The Ax Effect – Sunday 21 april – 13:15

The Ax Effect created there own style with a stood-up drumming singing frontman! They take bits and pieces of hardrock, punk and metal-acts from the last three decades of the 20th century and mix it up with a lumberjack theme. Non-conformity and high energy! In your face , live performance with the drums front center!
