It is with much excitement and anticipation that we prepare to welcome Altın Gün to Roadburn in 2025. The Grammy nominated psychedelic innovators will be preparing a tailor-made set for the occasion, so join us in welcoming these boundary-pushing musicians to the Roadburn fold.
Altın Gün’s knack for blending psych, funk, and folk with a distinctive Anatolian twist has had us – and many others – in the palm of their hand for several years now. Indeed, this announcement has been on our bucket-list for quite some time, so to us this is a dream come true. Their unhurried ability to reimagine traditional Turkish folk songs in a contemporary way, without sacrificing vibrancy and resonance, sets them apart in the fast-pace of the modern world.
Whilst their repertoire is varied and eclectic, it is the more fuzzy, psychedelic numbers, as well as the darker, more melancholic sounds that will form the backbone of their performance at Roadburn. When the idea of a tailor-made and distinctive set was mentioned, the band grasped the concept with both hands.
They tell us:
“We’ve been developing a more psychedelic live-set, including hypnotising visuals. We can’t wait to play this set at the upcoming edition of Roadburn.”
For us at Roadburn, this performance is a must-see set, and one that sets a new bar for contemporary psychedelia. Our highest hope is that the magic of Altın Gün will transport us to a time and place that is so rich with the history and culture that infuses their songs. With such an inspiring musical lineage to explore, and with Altın Gün as our guides, we have every expectation that this will be an unforgettable experience.
