Denisa

Denisa’s 2023 release, St. Bernadette, caught our ear with its evocative ruminations on life and mortality; the melancholic melds with the melodic as her vignettes of existential perseverance drift in the ether. Hailing from Jakarta, Indonesia, Denisa will be making the trip to Tilburg to join us this coming April for her Roadburn debut.

It won’t be her first foray into the continent – she’s already made inroads to winning over a European audience, and we’re sure that her smoky, shoegaze-infused songs will gain a horde of new fans when she wows the Roadburn audience. From more upbeat pop beginnings, a more mature and contemplative sound has emerged as Denisa has evolved as an artist and imbibed life lessons along the way. Stating that she writes mainly about ‘grief and belief’ there is much to be explored within her celestial sound and liturgical lyrics. 

Of her upcoming performance at Roadburn, Denisa comments:

“Getting to play Roadburn for my first Roadburn experience feels surreal and I am beyond excited to tour Europe next year. This is what we’ve been waiting for— a milestone in a community we’ve long admired.”
