We’re extremely proud of the times over the years when we have played a part – no matter how small – in someone’s musical journey. Be they a musician on stage, an appreciator off stage, or otherwise moved by their experience at Roadburn. We may be biased but we do think there’s something a little bit magical about those four days we spend together in April. So, it is with great pleasure that we’re today announcing the Roadburn debut of Chained To The Bottom Of The Ocean – a band whose very formation was inspired by a trip to Planet Roadburn.
Paul from the band comments: “Chained was started after attending roadburn in 2017 and feeling deeply moved and inspired by the commitment to art experienced there. From day one we have tried to honor the vision curated by the festival in hopes we’d one day get to play. We can’t wait to play and are honored and grateful for the experience.”
Nine years ago, this Massachusetts based band took their first steps into creating the death-doom-sludge hybrid they have become known for. Multiple tours, several EPs and three albums later they’re coming back to where it all started. This sweet full-circle tale belies the crushing misery contained within their songs, but such is the Roadburn way – we wouldn’t change a thing about them.
