Disfear to play a no-hold-barred, mandatory circle-pit set at John Dyer Baizley's Curated Roadburn event

“Disfear are playing Roadbrun 2017.  They are beginning a new chapter for their band, starting with this performance on April 22nd. I’m humbled by the fact that they see Roadburn as a suitable place to accomplish this. Prior to speaking with them a few months back regarding this show, I had become nervous that their ferocious brand of d-beat fury was forever silenced. I don’t know exactly what to expect from this re-emergence, but I’m sure it won’t be a gentle one. This should be a no-hold-barred, fists-in-the-air, mandatory-circle-pit set, and you better believe I’m not missing a minute of it. ‘Nuff said.”

John Dyer Baizley.

Despite the sporadic, unstable nature of their existence, Disfear have been one of the leading lights of the Swedish d-beat scene in the almost three decades they have existed. They might not record of perform often, but when they do, you know it’s going to be something extraordinary, especially since they added legendary vocalist Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates, of course, among many others) to the line-up in 1998, and later guitarist Uffe Cederlund of Entombed fame, they’ve become a sharp, remorseless d-beat machine, all while founding member and guitarist Björn Petersson  holds the fort together with drummer Marcus Andersson and, the latest addition to the line up, bass player Andreas “Drette” Axelsson.

The Live The Storm record from 2008 was a sort of culmination, and it still remains one of the finest, most furious punk albums the 21st century has witnessed. Though they have been in a sort of limbo since then, with the tragic loss of bassist Henke Frykman in 2011, Disfear have arisen for Roadburn, ready to kick ass and bash heads.

Disfear will perform as part of John Dyer Baizley’s curated event at Het Patronaat, on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
