Kollaps don’t make music to soundtrack a good time, and whilst we do really, truly want you to come to Roadburn and have a good time, we have invited them along in April because what they offer is something corporeal and visceral – it doesn’t sound like a party, we know, but this kind of catharsis is a rare thing, and can leave you coming out the other side of things a changed person. So we simply couldn’t resist.

They enact this cathartic purge via the medium of industrial sounds extracted from a variety of percussive instruments lifted from the morgue – knee pins, throat expanders, restraints, hacksaws and more. Repurposed here as conduits for Kollaps’s sonic punishment that incorporates cold and mechanical elements as well as the excavation of the still-pulsing biological.

Hailing from Australia originally, Kollaps have since relocated to Iceland. You may have seen them before – they spend a lot of time on the road, moving from city to city leaving a trail of macabre bleakness in their wake. The time has come for them to bring it to Tilburg.
