Khemmis to make European debut at 2018 Roadburn Festival!

There has been a rumbling from out of the American Rocky Mountains for the last couple years, and it’s been coming from Colorado doomers Khemmis. After blowing minds with two records of emotionally resonant and blisteringly heavy classic doom in the making, we’re proud to welcome Khemmis to Roadburn 2018 as they make their European debut!

“Roadburn has long been a celebration of underground music and its power to unite people from around the world,” says Khemmis of making the trip. “We are incredibly honored to make our European debut at the 2018 edition alongside so many legendary artists. See you in April!”

Released by 20 Buck Spin and produced by Dave Otero – who once upon a time helmed Cephalic Carnage’s Anomalies; go find it – KhemmisAbsolution (2015) and Hunted (2016) have quickly marked the band out as one of the most pivotal names in modern doom. With all the melodic mournfulness of classic doom at its very best and an underlying progressivism, songs like ‘Candlelight’ and ‘Beyond the Door’ preach forward-thinking heavy while bridging a gap to the emotionalism of some of the genres classics from bands like Anathema, Paradise Lost, Katatonia, and My Dying Bride.

“One of my favorite aspects of Roadburn year after year is being able to introduce bands to the European audience for the first time across a range of styles, and Khemmis embody this perfectly,” enthuses Roadburn artistic director Walter. “A new group with an old soul, I knew the second I heard Hunted that I wanted them for Roadburn! Absolutely epic!”

After arriving fresh off the Decibel US tour headlined by Roadburn regulars Enslaved, look for Khemmis to stun Roadburners new and jaded alike when they play Thursday, 19 April on the Het Patronaat stage.
