People of all ages congregate at Roadburn; we have people joining us making their very first foray into festival territory as well as long time veterans, each as welcome as the next. But it’s not unreasonable to speculate that pageninetynine are a band that is a few years older than many of the Roadburners that will be joining us next April. But don’t be fooled; their energy hasn’t dipped in the years since they formed, all the way back in 1997. Arguably they are as vital now as they have ever been, which is why it was a no-brainer to invite them along to join us at Roadburn.

Hailing from Sterling, Virginia, pageninetynine have embraced the hardcore punk life and lived that dream in every conceivable way. Try as they might, they can’t keep away – although they have had periods of inactivity over the years, they always find their way back together. With a sprawling live presence, and an extensive back catalogue, they’re a veritable feast regardless of whether you encounter them live or in the comfort of your own home.

Each of their records is quite literally a document of the time it was created – a stamp in the history books of punk rock. They’d probably bat us away if they caught us using words like ‘iconic’ in their presence, but it’s hard to deny that they’ve established themselves quite a legacy along the way – and they’re not done yet. Whether they commit something new to tape or not, this trip to Europe is a new marker in time in the life cycle of pageninetynine – and one we’re happy to celebrate with them.

Pageninetynine’s Mike Taylor told us: “It’s been a goal of ours for a very long time to get back to Europe and do it right and we honestly couldn’t be anymore excited, but to be able to play Roadburn in addition to the rest of our trip is a mindblowing honor. I’ve literally sat for years and years and watched so many of our friends play and be in awe of what looks to be the best festival experience happening anywhere these days. So yes, humbled and elated to join the festivities this year.”

Please join us in giving a heartfelt Roadburn welcome to pageninetynine.
