It’s a particular honor to announce Temple Fang will play this year’s Spark on Wednesday, 16 April. The Amsterdam prog-psych spearheads announced their new album ‘Lifted From the Wind’ last week, and we at Roadburn HQ were fortunate enough to hear it in advance. Emphasis there on “fortunate.”

You might think you’re ready for what’s coming – “oh, Temple Fang’s been at Roadburn plenty of times, they even played the Wednesday night in 2019,” etc. – but you’re not. Temple Fang have refined their sound to a new level. It is a shimmering, brilliant, soulful and melodic thing, and when the songs – yes, songs – hit, the feeling reveals distances beyond anything they’ve yet cast.

That’s not to disparage Temple Fang’s past work. At all. As noted, they’ve played Roadburn before, but not with this material, and not at this crucial moment for the band. We believe strongly in showcasing artistic growth, and the evolution of Temple Fang has been a joy to witness. Let this album serve as their arrival. Don’t miss what will no doubt be a highlight of the festival before the fest-proper even starts.
