Cult of Luna will return to Roadburn for two career defining sets at Roadburn 2026
Cult of Luna will return to Roadburn for two career defining sets at Roadburn 2026. On Thursday, 16 April they will perform an ‘early era’ set, and on Friday, 17 April they will perform a ‘late era’ set.
Cult of Luna’s Johannes Persson says:
“For as long as I can remember, Roadburn has stood like a monolith in the vast and often undefined musical universe we belong to. The first time we were invited to play, it truly felt like an honor, a quality stamp we could wear with pride. When we were asked to return this year, the offer came with a twist: two sets over two nights. If that’s what it takes to play Roadburn again, we’re in.
“One set will dive into material from our first five albums. As I write this I have no idea of what songs we’ll play, but I do know I’ll need to dust off riffs I haven’t played in over twenty years. The second set will focus on newer material, and perhaps even something brand new. I’m looking forward to standing outside those massive doors to the main stage once again, hearing the intro roll, and feeling that familiar Roadburn anticipation.”

Roadburn has added more names to its 2026 festival line up, including a commissioned project from OTAY: ONII, a duo of special performances from Boris, and a festival debut from Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs/These New Puritans. In recent weeks a special set from Ufomammut and a collaboration between Wiegedood and The Blindman Collective were also announced. Roadburn 2026 will take place between April 16-19 in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
Roadburn’s Artistic Director, Walter Hoeijmakers comments:
“With this announcement, the picture of Roadburn 2026 comes sharply into focus: a near-complete map of artists, ideas, and energies that will define this year’s edition. You can see how the pieces connect; how our past, present, and future come together, capturing both the heartbeat of today’s underground and the quickening pulse of what’s still forming. A reminder, once again, that this world we share remains a fertile breeding ground for everything we hold dear: artistry, resistance, honesty, heart, and imagination.
“As the date draws closer, the energy intensifies. In April, we’ll gather in Tilburg to turn discovery into the shared experience we return for year after year – loud, intimate, challenging, and joyful. See you soon!”
The final piece of the visual art – a triptych by Douwe Dijkstra – was also unveiled this week.

Let our adventure roll on!
Let our adventure roll on!
After unveiling the first chapter of the official Roadburn 2026 artwork back in September, we are excited to now reveal the second piece of Douwe Dijkstra’s evolving triptych. As we mentioned before, these three panels will eventually merge into a single vision reflecting Roadburn’s past, present, and future explorations of heaviness in all its forms – but for now, we are letting the story unfold one luminous fragment at a time.
This new panel captures the spirit of exploration that drives the 2026 edition. From the peak of Mount Roadburn, we are always looking beyond the horizon in search of the most extraordinary new music. We are looking outward with curiosity and courage – open-hearted, open-minded, and ready to greet whatever waits just beyond the horizon.
For those less familiar with Douwe’s work, he’s a renowned Dutch artist whose bold visual storytelling has become instantly recognisable to many within our community. His ability to weave wonder, intensity and imagination into a single frame makes him the perfect match for this year’s unfolding vision.
Let our adventure roll on!

Roadburn 2026 by Douwe Dijkstra
Roadburn 2026 by Douwe Dijkstra
We’re thrilled to unveil the first official artwork for Roadburn 2026, created by none other than Douwe Dijkstra. Many of you will remember Douwe as the artist behind the visuals for the ill-fated 2020 edition. We’re very happy to welcome him back for the upcoming edition and to finally share his full vision with you.
This striking image is the opening chapter of a triptych that will unfold across the months ahead. Together, the three pieces will guide us through Roadburn’s past, present, and future explorations of heaviness in all its forms. Few artists capture that sense of discovery and fearless creativity quite like Douwe, which makes him the perfect companion for this journey.

Thank you Roadburners!
Thank you Roadburners!
It’s going to take us a while to process the last four days, we’re currently overwhelmed in every imaginable way.
What we can already comment on though is how blown away we are; the artists at Roadburn this year excelled themselves and more than rose to the occasion.
It was so inspiring to witness the connections being both made and strengthened – on and off stage. Connection and community are at the heart of Roadburn, and we had plenty of both, forged in vulnerability and acceptance.
Roadburners showed such love and respect for the work of the artists – from the pin-drop silent moments to letting loose and going wild.
