All Men Unto Me is the brainchild of Rylan Gleave; here he weaves his appreciation for classical and more traditionally Roadburn-friendly heavy music together. Thematically All Men Unto Me is a personal odyssey that explores the transitional journey that Rylan has charted through music over several years. From the intensely intimate to the hefty pillars of patriarchal society, these threads are knitted together in an impressive and beautiful collection of songs.
We’ve hosted some of the players involved in All Men Unto Me previously when we welcomed Ashenspire and Healthyliving to Roadburn. So, their faces may be familiar even as the music offers something different. For this special world premiere show, All Men Unto Me will play their latest album, Requiem, in full. The album meshes together discordant noise rock and metal with sacramental sounds and choral vocals.
Rylan comments:
“It’s a pleasure to return to Roadburn after playing with Ashenspire in 2023. It’s a wholly unique festival pushing boundaries on all sides, every time I’ve been. Requiem carries a different weight to my previous music; it speaks to my own journey, but also to experiences that I know resonate with others. Roadburn is the setting that lets it speak on its own terms. I’m glad to be sharing it here, with excellent bandmates, and hope that it connects with those who hear it.”
This is angular, avant-garde music that deserves your full attention. It is steeped in emotion, imbued with intention, and the perfect addition to our Friday at Roadburn.
