There are dozens of ways to describe HIDE, but not one of them can come close to the physicality of their live show. Mere words don’t do justice to the eviscerating experience, the thrill, the raw energy, the urgency of the performance. And yet, here we are trying to do just that; it would be remiss of us not to at least try to capture a sliver of what Hide are all about as they’ll be making their Roadburn debut this April.
The bones of who they are and what they do is easier to commit to the page – a Chicago-based duo making industrial noise with a confronting message – and yet they are so much more than the sum of their parts. Multi-instrumentalist Seth Sher is a master of creating the ominous atmosphere that forms the foundation of the live sound of Hide. Frontperson, Heather Gabel, is a commanding presence; unflinchingly verbalising the terror and trauma that inform the swirling vortex of horror that is core to Hide’s output. We urge you to join us for this incomparable, unforgettable experience.
