Human Impact is a band built on a foundation of friendship – the roots of which reach back decades. Free of both ego and expectation, the four component cogs of the Human Impact machine have crafted something born from a desire to explore new ground together. The four piece – vocalist and guitarist Chris Spencer (Unsane), bassist Eric Cooper (Made Out of Babies/ Kiss It GoodBye), keyboardist Jim Coleman (Cop Shoot Cop), and drummer Jon Syverson (Daughters) – did exactly that on Human Impact’s debut album in 2020. More recently they have unleashed a blinder of an album, Gone Dark, which sealed the deal on their invitation to Roadburn 2025.
Embracing noiserock and peppering it with the harshness of industrial sounds whilst also tempering it with melody and catchy hooks, Human Impact are an enticing prospect. Lyrically they tackle a rising tide of hopelessness due in part to the constant bombardment of bad news and worse prospects. As they hold a mirror up to society’s ills, they have – perhaps inadvertently – provided a signpost for improvement. Afterall, everything is just a little bit rosier when you have your friends by your side.
Of their upcoming Roadburn performance, they tell us:
“Human Impact is completely honored to be performing at Roadburn 2025. We are extremely psyched to play our new material for the Roadburn audience! Our music is really meant to be experienced live, and we look forward to delivering a unique sonic experience at this legendary Festival. And as a bonus, we get to check out so many other great bands.”
So, consider this your invitation to come along and feel the force of some true human impact – the good kind, the real kind, the friendship kind. Join us in welcoming Human Impact to the Roadburn fold.
