Insect Ark has been through a few different incarnations over the years, but at its core is always Dana Schechter. On their latest album, Raw Blood Singing, Dana steps out of Insect Ark’s ominous shadows to add her vocals to their already foreboding experimental sounds. It’s our pleasure to invite Insect Ark back to Roadburn to present their latest material and demonstrate their considerable evolution since they were last at Roadburn, back in 2018.
Of their performance, Dana tells us: “It’s with great pleasure that we return to the mighty Roadburn for 2025. The passion for music defines and consumes us; we can’t wait to be amongst the many like minded souls committed to building, seeking, and sharing the rich and heavy sounds – this is what keeps our hearts beating. Can’t wait to see you there!”
Even if you’ve seen Insect Ark previously – at Roadburn or elsewhere – this latest iteration of the band is something different. For a start, in the live arena they are now operating as a three-piece; founding member Dana is joined by Tim Wyskida (Khanate, Blind Idiot God) on drums and Lynn Wright on lap steel and electric guitar. This expanded line up enables the musicians to do justice to the intricacies found on Raw Blood Singing and throughout their back catalogue.
We’re delighted to welcome Insect Ark back to the Roadburn stage; sounding mightier than ever, they continue to be a considerable force in underground, heavy experimental music.
