K-X-P is one Finland’s most original and innovative bands, and their inclusion to Roadburn 2026’s lineup feels both long overdue and inevitable. High brow terms like “monolithic”, “mystical” and “prodigious” are often attached to these modern psych/kraut legends.
But to spell it out in much simpler terms: K-X-P are weird, but they sure as hell know how to rock as well. Fans of Can, Hawkwind and The Necks can join the proverbial circle alongside suckers for T-Rex, Black Sabbath and Motorpsycho – “Original Electronic Motörhead Space Meditation”, in their own words – where layered psychedelia and drones never needn’t evaporate in favor for some cinder block guitars and gargantuan grooves.
K-X-P actually has some history with Roadburn despite having never played here: founding member Timo Kaukolampi is a familiar face around these pastures with memorable sets by other outfits like Kaukolampi and Haunted Plasma. Now K-X-P make their long-awaited re-entry into the circuit – a propulsive, primordial space rock odyssey that explores the outer edges of noise, vibration and melody.
