Timo Kaukolampi is more than merely the ‘K’ in K-X-P; under the mononym Kaukolampi he is also the master behind a fascinating and eclectic back catalog that fuse the headiness of kosmische with the visceral impact of techno, the intensity of metal and the churning power of dark ambient.

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of scenes and genres, Timo concocts beautifully crafted tracks that shimmer with cinematic radiance. It’s no surprise to learn that he also turns his hand to film and TV scores, even winning awards for his work in the field. He will be at Roadburn to present his solo work both as Kaukolampi, and as a part of Haunted Plasma. We’ve long suspected that there must be something in the water in Finland – the stream of thrillingly innovative music that flows from the underground there is something to behold. Kaukolampi is another perfect example of this.
