MACHUKHA live is an unsettling prospect. Perhaps you were among those who got to see them live when they supported Agriculture on their European tour last year. Dimly lit and highly intense, the MACHUKHA live experience is not designed with your comfort in mind. We have invited them to perform at Roadburn this year, so you have a little time to prepare, should you need it…

Combining the bleakness of black metal with a raw punk energy, MACHUKHA’s lyrics are delivered by vocalist Natalya in her native Ukrainian tongue. Her acerbic intonation paints a picture of anguish, survival, resilience and strength even without attempting to translate the words. Their commitment to creating a strong visual aesthetic to accompany their music demonstrates their exquisite attention to detail; when a light is shone upon them, dispelling the darkness, they’re ready to embrace it.

We’re thrilled to welcome MACHUKHA to Roadburn and highly recommend that you give their debut album, Mochari, a listen before April rolls around. The mix of disquieting lulls and and intense, agonising crescendos will pave the way to their Roadburn debut…

Date: April 16
