The main event at NS16 is a presentation by the Italian art collective Malleus, titled Magick. The trajectory of Malleus overlaps with that of Ufomammut; Poia (guitar) and Urlo (bass, vocals) are founding members of the collective, together with fellow artist Lu. It is the Ufommamut connection that have brought Malleus into our orbit for 2026, but their tendrils have extended beyond the parameters of the band, and indeed far beyond music alone, thanks to their distinctive and expressive visual art.
“Magick is the act of creating what did not exist before,” they tell us, as they offer up a collection of work that reaches back to their roots and unveils a reality beyond the senses, and offers a different way of viewing the world. You may be most familiar with their work on countless concert posters over the years. They have illustrated the ephemera of many culturally and personally consequential events – including many shows at Roadburn, such as the iconic main Roadburn 2009 poster art. This exhibition offers you the chance to go deep into the Magick of Malleus.
