Marissa Nadler to showcase her attraction to all things dark at Roadburn 2019
Darkness comes in many forms, and one of the most beautiful we’ve witnessed this year is on the tracks of Marissa Nadler’s latest album, For My Crimes. We’re thrilled that she will bring these songs – and more – to life, on the Roadburn stage this coming April.
In a recent interview, Nadler described her attraction to all things dark as such: “It’s an aesthetic inclination for me. It isn’t a life choice.” Is it any wonder that her output is such an intense, intoxicating experience? Is it any wonder that we see a little bit of ourselves reflected in that statement?
For a festival that so many consider to be a metal festival, we are delighted year on year as more and more people join us on a journey of exploring darkness, on a trip of heaviness. The open arms and open minds that welcome artists who show up with little more than the voice they were born with and a guitar are testament to the accepted scope of heaviness we traverse.
In April, we have every confidence that Nadler will pick up that baton and run with it. Through the autobiographical storytelling, through the heartache, through the blue vapor.
