Most of the ill-fated line up from 2020 has made its way to Roadburn in the years since, yet one or two artists still remain that have not had the chance to do so. Handpicked for the 2020 edition by then-curator Emma Ruth Rundle, NGHTCRWLR will finally make its Roadburn debut.

Familiar to many as the driving force behind King Woman, NGHTCRWLR is the work of Kris Esfandiari. In this incarnation she channels dark electronics, pulsating horror and despite its creeping intensity, she makes it sound like a good time. Through this club-focused lens, NGHTCRWLR explores the seedy underbelly of a dystopian landscape by way of industrial sounds, danceable beats and sugar-sweet melodies. This year’s album, Oz, is the perfect way to immerse yourself in NGHTCRWLR’s world.

As the evening melts into the inky black night, NGHTCRWLR will be there to aid the transition; prepare to become absorbed into her all-consuming world.
