We were informed by Ian Lynch during Lankum’s set at Roadburn 2023 that this was Radie Peat’s first “metal festival”; he asked us to be gentle. Clearly you, me, and the entire Roadburn audience made her feel very welcome indeed as we’re thrilled to be bringing Radie back to Roadburn next year with her band ØXN

Whilst Radie’s vocals are as distinctive as ever, ØXN is a different beast upon which those vocals soar. Originally conceived as a duo when she joined forces with fellow vocalist Katie Kim, ØXN have morphed into a four-piece powerhouse with the addition of John ‘Spud’ Murphy and Eleanor Myler, both of the band Percolator. Their debut album, CYRM, was released in 2023 to widespread critical acclaim.

CYRM is a dark and brooding missive, weaving murder ballads and tales of long forgotten lives and loves of Ireland’s women. Following the roots of the songs as far back as possible, it would be hard not to categorise ØXN as folk, but not of the traditional kind. The four-piece has a collective ear for experimental sound and as a consequence have woven a beautiful tapestry of mesmerising elements and evocative imagery with their music.

ØXN’s music has really made an impression on us, and we’re already anticipating a truly spellbinding experience as they take to the main stage at Roadburn 2025.
