Big things are on the horizon for PATRIARCHY– the fearless and confronting Los Angeles based trio led by the indomitable songwriter and director Actually Huizenga. Before the year is out, Actually will give birth to her first child, and as 2024 dawns, a new Patriarchy release will come into view. In amongst all that shiny newness, Patriarchy will make their Roadburn debut and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it.

Roadburn will be something of a homecoming for Actually herself as she is half-Dutch on her father’s side and tells us:  “We can’t wait to burn the roads and frolic in the tulip fields of my homeland.” Join us in frolicking alongside Actually, The Guitarist, and The Drummer as they bring their distinctively visceral live show to The Netherlands in April. Combining infectious hooks, pulsating electronic dance music, crushing industrial vibes and suffocating noise, Patriarchy will leave you gasping for air.

Their upcoming release promises to deliver yet more provocation, more slithering earworms, more contemplations of the places where fear and desire coexist. Presenting their vision isn’t always an easy feat; their graphic videos are often censored online – yet Patriarchy persists. Actually invokes the motto of her last album, The Unself, “‘I fear what I want most’… and childbirth will undoubtedly be the ultimate incarnation of this motto. I hope it’s okay if I leak milk on stage?”

Patriarchy have already proven that they can titillate and transform with ease, as they enter a new era we can’t wait to see what direction they’ll lead us in. But where they command us, we will follow.
