Portrayal of Guilt will be joining us at Roadburn 2020

Portrayal of Guilt have been positively prolific over the past few years – and our lives are all the better for it. Two singles, two EPs, two splits, and one mighty album in the form of Let Pain Be Your Guide have cemented Portrayal Of Guilt as an essential band in the modern metal / hardcore lexicon. So it’s with huge pleasure that we’re announcing Portrayal of Guilt will be joining us at Roadburn 2020.

Whilst Let Pain Be Your Guide is the record that we keep returning to over and over, may we be so bold as to say we don’t think they’ve put a foot wrong so far in terms of output. At the time of writing, their latest release is a split with Roadburn alumni, Soft Kill. The juxtaposition of Portrayal of Guilt’s nihilistic abrasion rubbing up against the dreaminess of Soft Kill should be wrong, but yet it feels oh so right.

With each step they take, they’re redrawing the genre lines and redefining our understanding of how the pieces of the heavy music puzzle fit together. If you pull on a loose thread you may find yourself following a pathway that heads back to Pg 99, or unraveling something that leads you to Converge, or to Full of Hell, or perhaps you’ll unwind the whole damn thing and end up in a bigger mess than when you started. Instead, we suggest you just immerse yourself in the here and now – allow yourself to get sucked under by Portrayal of Guilt.

The band comments: “Since our first European tour we’ve made it a goal to try to play Roadburn. It’s an honor to be a part of something so special.”
