Attempted Martyr, the debut album from five-piece post-punk band Prostitute is a frenetic dose of barely contained emotion, a frenzied beast straining at the leash, an unsilenceable scream. Fusing noise rock sensibilities with Arabic dance beats, jagged samples and hypnotic electronics, Prostitute made an album that is imbued with such urgency that it has carried them round the world for the last year – and this coming Spring, it will deliver them to Tilburg for their first ever Roadburn appearance.
Their reputation as a live act precedes them; their anarchic spirit and their tireless desire to provoke unite in an apoplectic exchange of energy. Existing – and creating – at the merciless intersection of working class America and historical Middle Eastern influence, has brought the Michigan-based five-piece to right here, right now. Drawing on lived experience, as well as documented history, a sense of desperation, provocation and volcanic rage is channeled through a central character to create something unique and wholly compelling.
We’re thrilled to be able to welcome Prostitute to Roadburn; our instincts tell us that this is going to be a memorable show.
