Regular Roadburners know that Thou are an omnipresent force at Roadburn; as well as their neverending stream of ideas for their own shows, they’re also often funneling ideas and suggestions for other peoples’ shows our way too. One such Thou-endorsed idea was to book fellow New Orleans dwellers Slowhole. Credit where it’s due, this was a remarkably good idea, so we did exactly as they suggested.
Slowhole’s self-titled debut album was released last year, a nightmarish howl of swampy sounds and obliterating noise. Acerbic vocals cut through a suffocating wall of sound with a palpable sense of urgency. They’ll fit right in with us here at Roadburn.
Vocalist Shannon tells us: “We’re very excited to have the opportunity to play Roadburn, it’s really a dream for us. Many artists who have inspired us have also played at Roadburn, so it feels like a sweet welcome into a space that people we’ve looked up to have also shared.”
This will be their first foray into Europe, so let’s help make it an unforgettable one for them.
