THE BEVIS FROND – the brainchild of the uber creative Nick Saloman – are preparing to hit the road again this spring and we’re delighted to have them make a stop with us in Tilburg. Having first performed at Roadburn way back in 2006, the legendary band will return in 2024.

Saloman has served as the figurehead for the entity known as The Bevis Frond, crafting psychedelic odysseys rooted in proper, traditional songwriting. His gift led The Bevis Frond to be considered as a leading light in European and British psych over the years. Where the Bevis Frond story overlaps with ours is that they played the festival at a pivotal point in it’s progression, as our artistic director, Walter, explains: “I was super proud to have them play the festival back then, alongside Hawkwind and Ozric Tentacles. They were such an inspiration to me and it means a lot to bring them back to Roadburn, making the circle whole.”

For his part, Saloman comments: “My memory of it is that it was a fantastic festival. Loads of people, great bands, with something going on all the time. We played on the main stage and got a really good response. I always hoped we’d do it again someday. Well, I’ve had to wait till I’m an old man, but now it’s happening. Can’t wait! “

The legacy of The Bevis Frond is one that encompasses majestic melody, angular swagger, and psychedelic sonic explorations that hark back to the 60s and 70s, deftly spun together by Saloman’s trusty hand. The Bevis Frond have become a wildly influential band over the years – way beyond the confines of Roadburn. Saloman is far from done with creating; a new studio album, titled Focus on Nature will be released in 2024.

Join us in welcoming The Bevis Frond back to Roadburn in style.
